Dog Licenses
Important Information
Dogs are required to be licensed at four months of age or within 30 days of entering the City (La Mesa Municipal Code 8.09.010). You will need to provide proof of a current rabies vaccination to obtain the license. Your veterinarian will probably give you a vaccination and pet licensing form to submit. If not, we will accept proof in the form of a detailed receipt from the veterinarian’s office. If the dog is spayed or neutered, you need to include proof of this from a veterinarian as well.

Please note that you must provide the physical address where the dog resides. Post office boxes or private mail boxes are not valid addresses for licensing purposes. Please call 619.667.1114 with any questions.

Please note that there are no refunds on unused portions of the license, and fees and tags my not be transferred among dogs.
